This region is also home to Elephant, Lion and Cheetah, Serval and Genet as well as Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Waterbuck, Zebra, Dik Dik and Impala. Rarer species found here include Lesser Kudu, Fringe-eared Oryx, Gerenuk, Peter’s Gazelle and Hirola. Birdlife is excellent with many species arriving from far away countries like Germany, Russia and Oman.
Orphan Elephant Visits
Guests at Galdessa Camp who wish to visit the Voi elephant orphans must be registered foster parents with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The Reintegration Unit is located about an hour from camp and offers a remarkable opportunity to meet the young elephants currently being cared for and prepared for life back in the wild.
