Getting to Elephant Pepper Camp, Masai Mara

The Mara North Conservancy is a private wilderness in a game rich area close to the Masai Mara Game Reserve and the Mara River. Elephant Pepper Camp overlooks the plains from a shady setting.

Far from other camps and lodges, this malaria free Kenya safari camp is in the middle of a protected area covering 3 600 square km (1390 square miles). You can enjoy glorious seclusion while exploring the conservancy on a variety of safari activities. The camp is seasonal and closes for 2 months of the year in order to preserve the natural surroundings.

The Mara North Conservancy is a joint initiative between 11 member camps and the Maasai landowners. The Maasai community earn a stable income from the leasing of the land and co-create holistic land management policies and practices, which include maintenance of the land for wildlife conservation, low impact tourism and controlled grazing. Eco-friendly Elephant Pepper Camp pioneered this initiative and is also involved in a number of other community projects.

Elephant Pepper Camp is situated in a high altitude location within the Mara North Conservancy which borders the north western section of the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

By Air

There is an airstrip in the Mara North Conservancy which is a 30 minute road transfer from Elephant Pepper Camp. You can fly to this airstrip from Nairobi Wilson Airport on a variety of daily flights on different airlines. There are also daily flights from Shaba, Samburu, Lewa and Nanyuki, as well as Mombasa, Ukunda and Amboseli. Private air charters can also land here from any destination. The other airstrip in the vicinity is Musiara Airstrip, although it is a 1 hour drive from camp.
