What to do at Joys Camp

Safari in Kenya at Joys camp and watch wildlife around natural springs or set off on game drives and guided bush walks. The Joy Adamson museum is nearby for a wonderful depiction of her life and conservation legacy.

Enjoy a swim in the beautiful pool, indulge in massage therapy and admire the views. Joys Camp is one of a group of small luxury lodges in Kenya which are located in superb destinations for an unforgettable safari. Shaba is home to the nomadic Boran tribe and offers a range of experiences. Artistic guests can draw and use watercolours to capture the beauty of Shaba.

The Shaba landscape is visually stunning and you’ll see wildlife to match. Visit the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River for a fabulous bush breakfast or sundowners at the end of a magical day. In between, professional guides will lead you on morning and evening safari activities into the wilderness.

On 4x4 open-sided vehicle game drives you could spot Lion, Cheetah and Leopard or some of the reserves rarer species namely Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Oryx and Lesser Kudu. Back at camp the birdlife is amazing but keep a look out for Elephant, Buffalo and Waterbuck at the active waterhole.

The area around Joys Camp is visited regularly by Leopard, Lion and Cheetah. Joy Adamson released a Leopard into the wild here and wrote her final book Queen of Shaba.
