Safari at Porini Rhino Camp

Porini Rhino Camp offers daily wildlife safari activities in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, and a chance to embark on optional adventures on your Kenya safari.

Game Drives

Game drives are conducted every morning and evening, each promising a different experience. In the morning, head out into the bush to witness the African sunrise and track an abundance of plains game. At night, watch as the bush comes alive and search for nocturnal wildlife such as aardvark, zorilla (striped polecat), bat-eared fox, leopard, lion and many more.

Walking Safari

Awaken your animal instincts on a walking safari through the vast Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Along with an armed ranger, you will learn how to follow spoor and track an abundance of wildlife using all your senses. Your expert guide will share his bush knowledge with you as you search high and low for insects, plants and birds as you learn how important even the smallest insect is in this intangible environment.

Chimpanzee Sanctuary

An opportunity to witness chimpanzees awaits at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. This sanctuary was formed as a refuge to orphaned and confiscated chimpanzees, and is the only place in Kenya where non-indigenous chimps can be seen. Watch as these wonderful creatures are taken care of by the conservancy. The Porini Rhino Camp guests enjoy priority access to the sanctuary so that you can view the chimps early before other visitors arrive.

Endangered Species Boma (optional activity)

Visit the endangered species boma, meet and learn more about the highly endangered Northern white rhinos. With only three left in the world, you can have a very unique opportunity to see these majestic animals up close. The boma also has six Southern white rhinos, black rhinos, Grevy’s zebras and Jackson’s hartebeest.

Lion tracking excursion (optional activity)

Lion Tracking is a novel way to support conservation, and learn more about lions. Set out in the early morning by vehicle and track the collared lions movements and activities. All the information collected is passed onto the Ol Pejeta Ecological Monitoring Department.
