Location of Kitich Camp, Mathews Range

The Mathews Mountain Range in the Northern Frontier of Kenya is an unexpected delight on the East African safari circuit and home to Black Panther, Forest Elephant, Lion and Buffalo.

Kitich Camp is situated on the upper slopes of the Mathews Mountains in a beautiful forest glade. The camp is set under a forest canopy and overlooks the Ngeng River. The Mathews forest is an ecological hotspot with rare flora and fauna such as endemic Cycads, the De Brazza Monkey and endangered Wild Dog. A safari holiday in Kenya at Kitich Camp provides a wonderful base from which to discover the hidden treasures of this ancient wilderness.

The montane rainforest covers about 220 000 acres and the flora and fauna exist in a unique micro-climate. The high point in the middle of the range reaches 2 375m (1.47 miles) above sea level, with another higher peak further south. The surrounding lowlands are arid and home to the semi-nomadic Samburu tribes.
